Heritage Preservation Commission

Afton's Heritage Preservation Commission (HPC) is responsible for the protection and enhancement of the community's history.  It was created to assist the City with its overall historic preservation goals.  These goals include: supporting the protection of the City’s heritage by preserving, protecting, conserving, and wisely using the significant historical, cultural, social, economic, political,  architectural, or archaeological objects, structures, buildings, and sites in the City. In order to accomplish this task, the HPC reviews building designs, site plans, business signs and landscaping for proposed development or redevelopment in the Village Historic District (Downtown).

The HPC also reviews applications for and maintains an inventory of historical sites, and provides education regarding civic and architectural heritage in cooperation with the Afton Historical Society.

Structure:  A Commission - advisory to the Afton Planning Commission and to the City Council.

Meets: The Third Wednesday of Every Month, as needed, at 5 p.m. at City Hall.
